Nelson, All, this is working now with the vesa driver,
thanks a bunch for your help!
Problem is the gnome-session window sits there and waits
forever. I use xinit and use this .xinitrc:
-->
# ~/.xinitrc
export LANG=de_DE
/usr/bin/x-window-manager&
xhost +localhost&
exec /usr/bin/gnome-session
<--
It was working for two years or so. sawfish is working, so I
can open a xterm and then start the panel, etc., but that is
just so broken it cannot be right.
