snd ERROR (Please help)
I am trying to edit and play WAV files on my IBM Thinkpad 390 laptop.
I am using snd to edit the files.
I have no problems editing and playing these files on my desktop box,
but on the laptop snd will not play them. I can load the files and do
not seem to have any problems until I try to actually play them. Then I
get the following error message:
[09:59:16] data format 10 (little endin short (16 bits)) not available
on /dev/dsp
[audio.c[2162] oss_mus_audio_open_output]
[09:59:16] can't play
(data format 10 (little endian short (16 bits)) not available on
/dev/dsp
[audio.c[2162] oss_mus_audio_open_output])
[snd-dac.c[1766] start_audio_output_1]
Does anyone know what this error really means and how I can avoid it?
NOTE: The file WILL play on the laptop from the command line using:
play soundfilename
so I know that the laptop is configured for sound and the file is not
completely messed up.
ALSO NOTE: The desktop box is running Sarge and the laptop is running Woody.
