| I'm using kernel 2.6.10 and alsa. I have a SB Live! card and an onboard
| via sound card. Sometimes I want to use the onboard card. In order to do

|
| - create .asoundrc in home directory with the following contents:
|
| pcm.!default {
|        type hw
|        card 1
| }
|
| ctl.!default {
|        type hw
|        card 1
| }
|
| - /etc/init.d/alsa restart
|
| If I start xmms, xine or mplayer they start using the onboard card but
| realplayer does not. Can anybody tell me why is this?

Hi Lorincz,
I copied this from the helix.org webpage faq.
Q. What sound systems are supported by the player?

~ The Player currently only supports OSS sound drivers on install.

~ Matt Campbell has contributed fully functional support for the usound
server (see http://mattcamp.paunix.org/usound/)

~ Some support is available for ALSA and ESounD via CVS for developers
interested in improving the Helix framework.

~ No support for arts, jack, mas, etc. is available or planned for the
immediate future. Community contributions are welcome.

So make sure you have installed OSS emulation for Alsa, alsa-oss.
