carefully check:
boot = ...
root = ...
the only way around it is to boot off cd or floppy or CF or network
and rerun lilo or use grub or syslinux or ...
if you didnt specify, lba32 or other, it'd assumed lba32 by default,
and your (older?) hw might not support it??
