At this point what is in /erc/resolv.conf?  It should contain your DNS
servers. 
ie
nameserver 208.173.xxx.xxx or whatever.  Does it?  If not put them
into resolv.conf and try again.


If it does, can you ping your isp ny name ( ping ruralcomm.com ) ?

Can you ping your DNS servers by number?
