Do you mean 
apt-get install wxpython
or
apt-get install wxpython2.5.3
?

Now you are searching for a package that is *exactly* named
wxpython. Try searching for all packages that *begin* with wxpython:

$ dpkg -l wxpython*
(...)
pn  wxpython2.5.3         <none>                (no description available)

On my system it isn't installed. But you would probably see a version
number there.
