  Thanks very much Kent. Adding dip fixed the greyed out `DNS Auto
Configuration` button. Now I'm getting `Exit Status 2: using the noauth
option requires root privilege`. Or, `You don't have sufficient permission
to run /usr/sbin/pppd.` Similar answer from  pon.
  I've fiddled with the privileges of some of the files and probably screwed
things up :-(.  I haven't learnt about permissions yet.
