FYI, I have "fake constructed" a reply to this message from l.d.o

If it's RS232 all you need to know is the wire protocol, then write your 
own Linux software.  I wrote some Visual Basic 3.0 softare to control a 
Cotton Baler over the RS232 a hundred years ago.  Just dig up a manual.
