Point taken!  No we are not actually using cards with holes punched in
them - <grin> too error prone - hanging chads and all that </grin>.  We
trust our students with soft (blunt?) pencils.

But the card-readers we have are old, they have a wierd and wonderful
protocols, we have lost some of the manuals, and we have a deadline
VERY soon that means that I do not want to write code if I can help
it.  Remember the motto, Don't re-invent, re-use or steal.
