The meat of the problem resides in the fact that for so many people
computer experience means microsoft and their way of dealing. So
always almost everyone goes back to whatever experience they have had
with M$. On the other hand, UNIX systems in those days were much more
than 'A>' But sadly enough, not many have that as part of their waking
memories, implanted or not.
