Do you mean version 3.3 of the pcl driver? The output it generates is,
besides correct, way better than what hpijs generates for my printer (an HP
840C).

Anyway, I also got the same impression: the maintainer is simply ignoring
the bugreports.

IMO, since upon upgrading gs is possible to break the printing system, the
package should, at least, inform the user (say, via a debconf warning)
that the new version doesn't include some drivers that used to be included
in older versions.
