Hm, in my case I see:

   1  IMAP+                        INBOX.
   2  IMAP                         INBOX

I think that's how it should be, as my mutt works just fine.

Some snippets from my .muttrc:

# Default mail directory - `=' refers to this folder.
set folder=imaps://maurits@mail.vanrees.org/INBOX.

# Local mail spool box:
mailboxes /var/mail/maurits
# IMAP inbox:
mailboxes imaps://maurits@mail.vanrees.org/
# debian-user is sorted delivered here:
mailboxes imaps://maurits@mail.vanrees.org/INBOX.Debian
# junk/spam is delivered here:
mailboxes imaps://maurits@mail.vanrees.org/INBOX.Junk

Try pressing `c', then `TAB' and again `TAB'. That's how it works for
me.

`dpkg-reconfigure exim' may help here.
