Reporting the error message would be better, anyway, look if the
module name is present in /etc/modules or if you are using "hotplug",
black list it.

Are you talking about kernel modules to use your sound card or audio
file with .mod extension?

IIRC libmikmod is used by xmms to play .mod and similar audio files,
maybe you need to install "libmikmod2".
