I use courier-imap-ssl and I have mozilla connection to a few accounts at the same time, so my MAXPERIP=40. With this setup I have absolutely no problem from home, but from the work I often get "server disconnect" error. I think that firewall at my work is a problem, but is there anything I can do (with courier or mozilla configuration) to fix it?
I have had issues with mozilla/thunderbird vs. courier-imap in the past.
Check 'account settings' | 'server settings' |'advanced' | 'maximum
number of server connections to cache'. I believe this defaults to 5. I decreased this to 2 and the server
disconnects went away.
This problem is much easier fixed by setting MAXPERIP=<SOME LARGE NUMBER> on the server. By default courier allows 4 connection from the same IP, mozilla wants to make 5 (performance), so you need to tell courier to allow larger number of connections.
