Hi, got the disk working in rescue mode, once i ran that to remount my

based so i was lost) but when i rebooted the same error ocured but i
think its L 40 now. Can someone give me more detail on how i clean out
my MBR? is debian all command line based, or does it come with X window?
"rescue mode" is not necessarily "normal mode"; don't expect it to
function as it normally would (X, multiuser, etc).
Also, X may not be installed or may not be configured properly.
But X is not your concern at the moment. Getting your system to boot
properly is.
While you were in rescue mode, did you run "lilo"? If not, do so and
reboot. If you did, post the contents (without comment lines) of
/etc/lilo.conf for us to peruse and tell us a little bit about your
system (how many hard drives, partitions, SCSI vs IDE, master, slave,
which IDE port, etc).
