How does it lock me into an editor? So far the most significant feature
needed is: autoindent. That's it. I can name seven editor off the top of my
head that are installable by Debian which have autoindent (vi, nvi, elvis,
vim, joe, emacs, jed). Not all of those editors, however, have advanced
automation to make coding for the machine (IE, {}) and for the human (IE,
indention) automagically happen. So once you get used to those that do it is
hard to move to an environment or even try other editors which might not act
exactly the same way. To me that is locking you into the editor moreso than a
simple autoindent.
