rdate is replaced by ntpdate or xntpd is even better than cron'ing

pick 2 or 3 ...

pick any university in cali
	clock.ucsd.edu
	tick.ucla.edu
	...
pick any major isp in cali
	clock.via.net
	clock.he.net
	ntp.level3.net
	...
pick any major corp in cali
	tick.apple.com
	tick.sf.net
	...

now try to guess what the other ntp server names might be :-)

to see if you can connect to it ...
	ntptrace tick.apple.com

	( it's working if you get a non-zero offset )
