Re: Mozilla hangs on Print Preview

Thanks for the suggestion, Hugo. I checked and xprt was already installed from the stable archive - I did an apt-get install xprt and that upgraded it to the version in the backport archive, but the symptoms are unchanged. What is xprtorg? The package is just called xprt as far as I can tell.

Do I understand from your email that Mozilla does NOT use fontconfig or ghostscript? If I know that, it at least narrows the search.

Thanks

Jack

My system is Debian Woody, with Jamie Strandboge's Gnome 2.2 and Mozilla 1.4 backports, on a 1.8 GHz P4.

I am able to print, e.g. from Abiword.

However, when I do a Print or Print Preview in Mozilla, Mozilla hangs. A child window comes up, and stays up. If I move the child window around, it leaves behind an unrefreshed trail. I can't close the main window. The only way out is to do a kill.

I had that once before, but it was on Sarge. The solution was to install xprt-xprintorg. The woody backports have that package. You might backup your partition then install that package and see if it resolves it.
