Hi Jamin, thanks for the reply. I am trying to set a jabber server
that would allow several users to interact with one another. I also
want to be able to store the transcripts of the talks. From what I
have seen, I need (and have installed) jabber, jabber-common,
jabber-jud and jabber-muc. The intention is for the users to run a
client in their own machines that would connect to my server for this
purpose. I remember seeing some clients for jabber for windows (gabber
was the name of one if I am not mistaken), that will help, since I
expect many of the users to be running windows. I know that there are
a few addons for yahoo im, msn, and others. But we would not want
really that to happen since the purpose of the interaction could then
be defeated (we could give some thought to that). To give you a visual
of what we are trying to do, please have a look at

This site will go down soon, to reincarnate not too long after in
another place and envelope.
We are having some problems with the scripts for the chat (left
panel), so there were some ideas about serving the chat through jabber
in some floating application window next to it. Xchat was also
considered, plus some irc server, since it has been ported to
windows. The nature of the project explains why we are having many
connecting from windows machines. This is the answer in a nutshell to
your question.
Thank you again.
AR.
