The "devices" are actually the partition devices (like /dev/hda1). It's
just the *ix way of calling things, so there should be no problem. If
you try it, post your results here as it's an interesting thing.

BTW, you don't need to partition your drives to use them, you can just
create a filesystem on the main device (like /dev/hda), but that kinda
seems to frighten Windows installation on the same system under some
circumstances ;-)
