All you guys who complain about not being able to purchase computers that can run Linux..... Why are you complaining to each other? You send an occasional complaint to a vendor or manufacturer which is ignored. Make it a mass mailing, form letter or whatever. Manufacturers will already sell you a machine without an OS.

Yes, but when I called tech support about running,Linux on these machines, the answers I've gotten are like "You can run any version of Windows" and "it hasn't been tested
with Linux "

 And a
Debian based distro comes preinstalled on machines sold at WalMart.
Dude, we hit WalMart commodity status...just how much more massive can
you get?
Well, that's a start. They have other Linux distros too. But, judging from the reviews about these computers, because it's Walmart, potential users are more concerned about where they are made and, true or not, that
affects their perception of the actual functionality and reliability.

I'm sure that many users who have the technical know-how have found or made their ideal Linux machine from parts from dealers like Tiger Direct . But, for whatever reason, Linux compatibiliy is not mentioned in their advertising.. Their recent catalog advertised several systemless computers--not a mention of Linux., implied or explicit.

I imagine that if one made a deep search, there'd be other vendors who offer a specific Linux only machine.

I still believe that manufacturers and vendors need to hear a loud voice not just an occasional whisper
asking for more information about Linux compatibility..
