But how could I do this?
Sorry if I'm capturing a thread here... I've posted my quetsions to that
effect twice already, with no reply.

My 'smarthost' will reject my mail because it believes I want to use it
as relay. Bad, bad, forbidden. OFC.

What I never got: when I submit my mail to the server by Evolution, it
does so by means of SMTP. What's the difference between SMTP as
Evolution does it and SMTP as performed by Exim?

I'm quite confident that it is possible to configure Exim the way I need
it. However, I've read (or at least thoroughly browsed) the docs but
didn't come across anything that seemed appropriate. Lots about why and
how you make sure your MTA won't be abused as everybody's relay, though.
