Well, when I first started using Debian, I too felt that the release 
cycle was too long (thought like "if it takes another 1.5 years for a 
release, I would loose any interest in Debian"), but now I'm very 
comfortable getting stuff like KDE from backporters. I think that works 
fine. So, in general, I'm fine with the release cycle.

The only thing I really don't understand, is why packages that are 
outdated to the point where the security advisory says "don't use them" 
are not replaced with updated packages.
