Re: XFree86 hangs - kb, mouse does not respond



after doing some more digging, I discovered the problem was cause by a
few issues... firstly, for some reason, the keyboard and mouse refuse
to function when the ACPI option was enabled in the bios... this only
happened after I installed the new keyboard and the new sound card...
another issue is I found out when the SB Live card is installed in a
certain slot and it shares the IRQ with the network card...

the sad thing is I had to format the entire machine, discovered that
the problem was still there is realise that the problem is hardware
related...
