Of course in English, English is assumed unless you're on one of the
language-specific lists...

I would go with ext3, since it's a journaling filesystem and comes
standard with the kernel source.  ext2 is ext3's predecessor, it
doesn't have a lot of the cool features ext3 has, most notably
journaling.  Also, if something goes wrong with ext3, you can find
practically any boot disk capable of reading ext2 and be able to use
ext3 as an ext2 filesystem assuming it was cleanly unmounted last
time.
