Re: OT: webpage gallery software

You can try salonify, a GPL photo gallery system I've developed:

http://bostoncoop.net/adam/salonify

One example use of it:

A 'stripped down' version:

http://observingsurveillance.us

Quick feature list:

- Free

- Works with all browsers. Fine with w3m, lynx, also Mozilla, Netscape,
IE., etc.. Takes advantage of JavaScript if it's available.

- Automatically generates thumbnails and various sizes
- Automatically generates index recursively to mirror your directory
  structure
- User can select small, medium, or large, depending on
  bandwidth/resolution/etc.
- User can caption all photos through the web. Uses RCS to keep change
  history of captions.
- User can rotate photos throuh the web.
- User can customize display preferences--whether you want the caption
below or above, buttons above or below, etc.

Once you get it working, it's really easy to maintain your photo albums.

I'm open to suggestions on the package. You'll need perl from unstable,
though, to run it, because html4 support only entered the perl CGI module
at perl 5.8. If you are running Debian stable or testing, I can help you
just get what is necessary from unstable to run salonify.

I've been meaning to make a Debian package out of it, but haven't gotten
around to it. It also needs better documentation.

If anyone wants to try it, you can let me know what you think off list.
