Install avifile-player. There's a version in unstable, or you can
add Christian Marillat's excellent video-for-Debian site to
/etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://marillat.free.fr/ stable main
You might also try mplayer, which works fine but to my taste has a
worse GUI.
