I'm not sure where this is documented, but this is my recollection: 1) Uncomment the 'authenticate_hosts' line under the 'remote_smtp' transport, and add the name of your ISP's smarthost. 2) Skip down to the end of your exim.conf and uncomment one of the client side authentication thingys.
