Re: KT400 VT8235 OK?



Hi Dave,

It's working pretty well for me.  Sound won't work well unless you install
a very recent ALSA.  Kernel 2.4.21 (.20?) has an OSS driver that mostly
works.

Incidentally, I'm still not getting ideal sound reproduction out of the
VT8235 on-board chip... ALSA 0.9.2 made a noticeable improvement over
0.9.0rc6 but there is still audible distortion on some tracks. (The same
tracks sound fine with a YMF-724F sound card.)  Do I wait for the alsa
driver to mature, or is there a third (driver) option available?

Everything else worked pretty much out of the box.
