A good solution is to use some tool (eg procmail, maildrop or exim) to sort your mail into separate folders for separate purposes. Then your personal mail, debian list mail, and other list mail will be separate. Also use something like spamassassin to weed out the junk mail. Another option is to have multiple email addresses and use different addresses for different purposes.
