I thought this was a good solution for a while, too.  But then I
helped a mailing list move away from Yahoo to my server and discovered
that it's best to assume the user is clay to be molded rather than an
unwanted foriegner.  Granted, on less support related mailing lists,
letting someone know that they aren't reading for comprehension goes
over a little better, especially when worded nicely; as opposed to
support lists, which tend to draw some lusers that for thier own
sanity should not be online.
