Re: SoundChip Realtek ALC650
I have the same motherboard, and have not managed (so far) to make it
work. This is my lspci -vv for it:
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. AC97 Audio
Controller (rev 50)
Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology: Unknown device a002
Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop-
ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-
<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Interrupt: pin C routed to IRQ 11
Region 0: I/O ports at e400 [size=256]
Capabilities: [c0] Power Management version 2
Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1+ D2+ AuxCurrent=0mA
PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-)
Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME-
Realtek provides, on its website, linux drivers for the chip, which turn
out to be ALSA-based. I was able to download, unpack, and install them,
but so far haven't been able to get anything to play. It's been on my
to-do list. I've never used ALSA before so I assume there will be some
learning involved.
