I use a USB mouse on my latop, which is not here atm. I didn't do 
anything special to get it working, I used the same kernel. Setting up 
X during the install I selected a PS2 port and then the actual mouse 
driver. The USB modules were already installed,  you can check with 
'lsmod'.
