KDE caches the menus for a certain amount of time.  You were probably looking
in the then out-of-date cache, even though the menu files were already
there.

Hi Chris! Thanks for the info it also made apparant why a lot of the things I did in a session was not immediate but rather was integrated when I re-logged in to the system. That is not an improvement as far as I am concerned in KDE3 but I do like the speed. BTW: The new Open Office 1.01 is a LOT faster on my system than it's predecessor. Thanks!
