I don't know why - I used these packages to build .debs for the driver modules 
by just downloading the kernel-headers package that corresponds to the debian 
binary kernel that I have installed (2.4.19-k7).  Once you have installed 
these two packages /usr/share/doc/<package name> gives full instructions on 
what to do next.

Follow what it says and get perfect working nvidia modules.

You have to remember to change /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to use driver nvidia 
rather than driver nv in the appropriate section.
