Indeed. I know Brian knows what he's talking about - in fact I owe him a
sponsored package upload at some point in the very near future. :)

Like Craig, I've no intention of disparaging anyone: I'm not saying
"you're too clueless to run unstable, that's only for the elite". I
guess what I'm really trying to say is closer to this: unstable is for
those who can recover from problems, and whose response to something
breaking will be to do whatever they need to continue getting their work
done, then file a bug report. This is partly because it reduces the
support load on those of us trying to develop unstable, and partly
because it's better for the user.

The purpose of unstable is mostly so that whoever wants to can help with
development, unlike stable where the Debian Project does its best to
ensure that the release is of production quality. As such, it's best for
*everybody* if those running unstable are also those who feel themselves
able to help with development, whether by actually being developers, by
writing documentation, or by submitting good bug reports. That way as
little time as possible is wasted.
