Just about any tool that works with ext2 SHOULD work with ext3 without
problems. I would still do a backup though.

ext3 is very reliable in my opinion. I do a lot of video work
(capturing, encoding, editing, etc), and fragmentation has never been a
problem. I also find that, depending on journaling mode, I incur little
to no penalty for the journaling.

I can't tell you about this. I suggest that if you decide to do it,
