And, not long after woody's released, anybody asking questions about
potato and earlier will just be told to upgrade to woody if they have
problems. I started hanging around here about six months or so before
potato was released, and this was how things worked then. Thus, this
amounts to a proposal to rename debian-user to debian3-user, since there
won't be much useful content (or interested people hanging around to
help) on debian-user after woody is released if everything is happening
on debian3-user.

I'm not opposed to change or any of the other things you say in your
point 3), but I really don't think this would be a *useful* change.

This, on the other hand, might well be useful - but please just call it
debian-user-hardware. You could make a comparison with
comp.os.linux.hardware.
