You have a train of activity - any of which may not be working.  Take a look 
at  /var/log/mail.info (or others with similar names) to see if fetchmail is 
doing its stuff - look at /var/log/exim/mainlog to see what exim is doing.  
This latter log also tells you which directors and transports exim has used 
for its mail messages which will tell you where it should have delivered the 
message (/etc/exim/exim.conf is worth a read too)

Be clear in your own mind what domain names you consider local - fetchmail 
(unless you tell it otherwise) passes all mail onto exim as though it came 
from local host (eg mail for me is sent to exim as alan@localhost) so make 
sure the exim.conf file recognises localhost as a valid local domain name.
