You need to use the rescue disk so you can access your Linux filesystem then restart lilo to load the kernel into the mbr.
Pass the filesystem partition where your root FS resides as a parameter when you boot the rescue disk's kernel. Your debian
disk1 can do as your rescue disk (if you didn't make one). However,
that would be a problem if you converted your root FS to something
like reiserfs or XFS without making a bootdisk for them.
If you reboot quite often, get loadlin.exe and copy that file and
a copy of your kernel to your XP partition. Should you want to
load Linux from your XP session, you need only to run loadlin,
specifying the name of the kernel image, the runlevel (should you
want to) then the filesystem partition where your root resides.
A better solution is to use grub. Allows you to chainload other
OS's as well as boot multiple-image kernels like the hurd, as
well as multiple linux installs.
