I guess that you have potato.

do (as root):
1   apt-get install xserver-svga 
2   XF86Setup 
3  if your mouse doesn't work use tab to select the suitable
   device : ttyS0, ttyS1 .... 
if you see your video card in the list for example w32 :
apt-get install xserver-w32
many card work fine (by default) with xserver-svga.
