depending on the card it can be very normal. both my desktop
at home and my laptop require special configuration in X to
get it working well. on the laptop i have to download the X
source and compile a 3rd party driver, and the desktop uses
nvidia's kernel driver and X driver.. easy-to-install cards
that i've used and highly reccomend are 3dfx voodoo3 3000-3500
series and matrox g400 series.
