Firstly, it's not a symlink right?  I'd take a look into that file.  Is
it a shell script?  perl script?  executable binary?  The first two you
should be able to fix.  The third ... well good luck.  If I were you (I
have a 3C905 in several machines) I'd just use the 3c59x module from the
stock kernels, they work great for me.
