gunzip: ae_962.orig.tar.gz: not in gzip format

Hi All,
I just downloaded the source to ae from the Debian home page and when I
try to untar it I get the following error:

dixon@rowling:~$ tar -zxvf ae_962.orig.tar.gz 

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
dixon@rowling:~$ 

I also tried to just gunzip it but I'm having no luck there either:

dixon@rowling:~$ gunzip ae_962.orig.tar.gz 

gunzip: ae_962.orig.tar.gz: not in gzip format


Anybody know what's going on here?  Alternatively does anyone know where
I can find the source for ae?
