To get through the install without loading specific support you can 'map' the
controller using boot parameters (well you can with the HTP366 chipset anyway).
To do this you use something along the lines of:

boot: linux ide2=0x????,0x???? ide3=0x????,0x????

You'll need to find the appropriate information for the parameters, and this
only runs the controller at ATA33, but it will allow you to install and then
patch things or load the necessary module from there.
