try
whereis lpd
lpd: /usr/sbin/lpd /usr/share/man/man8/lpd.8.gz
if you get that then, no you didn't delete it
is it running
ps aux |grep lpd
root 374 0.0 0.0 1352 32 ? S Apr29 0:00 /usr/sbin/lpd
is it running? No then
/etc/init.d/lpd restart
