Trouble compiling gs (ghostscript) from source

I would like to try the new stp gs driver (from gimp-print), so i've
downloaded the source for the ghostscript and started to read the docs.

To start with a simple task, i've tried to create the gs binary package
from the debian sources (without the stp patch), but the compilation
aborted compiling "zdevcal.c"

The version of ghostscript is the 5-10 and my system is a pratically
updated sid (aka unstable), i've downloaded the source for libjpeg62
(and renamed the directory to libjpg as suggested in gimp-print readme),
i also have installed the sharutils, zlib1g-dev, svgalibg1-dev,
libpng2-dev and vflib2-dev packages, but i suspect i missed some dev
packages.

I wonder if i need to follow special procedure to create the binary
package.
Any advice will be very useful. Thanks in advance

Andrea
