samba log question

Hi all,

I found these messages in my smb log file.  Should I be worried?

  Couldn't find user 'daniel goldman' in UNIX password database.

  Rejecting user 'daniel goldman': authentication failed

Is somebody trying to break in or is samba doing this on it's own?
