Re: OT: Java vs Javascript, and is it in Mozilla?

In one sentence, they're only relationship is Java in the name. Java is a
cross-platform language developed by Sun, originally called Oak, and developed
for embedded systems, that they then tried to push as a web standard.
Javascript is a Netscape scripting language developed for their client,
originally called Livescript. When Java hit it big (in terms of mindshare),
they changed the name to Javascript. The ECMA standard version is ECMAscript.

In terms of your product, suspect the problem is that Java is not running (if
they require Java). You can install Java from non-free, although I don't know
how well Mozilla supports it.
