You could try to use the "raw" repeat method, look in /etc/gpm.conf, my is like this:

device=/dev/psaux
responsiveness=
repeat_type=raw
type=imps2
append=""
sample_rate=

The type is referred to a Logitech MouseMan+ (M-S48a)...
